His World Is Built On Punctuality

Lights At Night

I’ve been a very bad blogger. Because my wedding is a little over two months away (eek!) I’ve been consumed with finalizing details, thus my little online corner of the world has been neglected. Never fear, though––I’ve got a couples shoot this weekend at the beach and I’m feeling pumped. I can’t wait to post my favorite images on Monday!

Also, yay! It’s Friday! Today’s song is by Architecture in Helsinki and can be found on their latest album, Places Like This. It’s a weird song from a weird band and if you know me, you know that’s sometimes how I like my music. Enjoy!

There’ll Be Love Wherever You Go

chrisbeach.jpeg

Chris and I have been together/known each other for over 5 years now. When we first met, I’m not sure either of us had a real sense that the relationship we were embarking upon would turn out to be the final lasting one for both of us. The duration of these last five years of our relationship have not been perfect–hell, they haven’t even been easy. But, they’ve taught both of us so much about what it means to be selfless and to truly love another person.

Chris has honestly made me a better person–mostly because he makes me want to be a better person in an attempt to be even slightly worthy of his love in return. He’s a genuine soul with a heart of gold and I sincerely wonder to myself more often than I care to admit how I, of all people, was able to make him my own. I imagine the next five years will be an exciting time for us, but what’s really exciting is to think about the fact that five years is nothing when you spend a lifetime with someone.

The purpose of this post wasn’t for the public display of affection, but rather to share with you this song I discovered today. It immediately made me think of Chris. It’s fun and catchy and cute. Kinda like him.

Happy Valentine’s Day! (I love you, bud.)

Parker Street Cinema at Mr. T’s Bowl

My good friend Ken Mahru is in this excellent post-rock band called Parker Street Cinema. They recently did a West Coast tour and made a stop at Mr. T’s Bowl in Highland Park. Ken asked me to bring along my camera with the hopes of getting some good live shots of their gig. I had never been to Mr. T’s Bowl before and I’m really glad I got this chance. It’s a really interesting hole in the wall type of place. When we first walked in I thought maybe we had walked into someone’s basement-turned-music venue instead. It sort of felt like home. PSC rocked it, for sure. You should definitely check out their stuff and buy their new album, Music, In The Blood, when it comes out on December 4th.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from that night:
