Hello from Down Under!

Well, we made it! It is currently 5:00 on a Sunday morning here in Sydney and Chris and I are wide awake and ready to go explore. Problem is, it’s still pitch black outside, so we’re trying to kill some time with bad Australian television and $25 per day Internet access. The cost of the latter activity means that I probably won’t be updating photos daily like I had originally planned, which is super disappointing.

So, if you don’t hear from me until our return, that will be why. I plan on taking a gazillion pictures so at the very least I’ll have tons to update with when we get back! For now, here is something I snapped with my point-and-shoot during our layover in Fiji yesterday.

G’day!

If You Weren’t Real I Would Make You Up

When Chris and I met, I fell for him right away. But not in that insane head-over-heels way. No, I feel for him in a very reasonable way in that I recognized that he was a really nice guy who I had a lot in common with who also made me laugh almost non-stop. No, the insane head-over-heels part came later and I think our relationship is better off for it. I honestly feel as though I fall in love with Chris a little more every single day. Cheesy? Maybe. Cliche? Definitely. But, hey, whatareyougonnado?

I’m gonna marry this man. I feel like I’ve won the lottery every time I think about it. I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t know him. All I know is I’m a better person for having known him and that’s what it’s all about for me.

There are a ton more images of this guy after the jump!

I Feel It All

We returned from Joshua Tree yesterday afternoon. It was an amazing weekend, but boy, am I beat. Hanging out in the desert can take a lot out of a person––and we didn’t even rock climb, or anything! The house we stayed in was amazing and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. But, the whole point of the trip was for Chris and I to spend some quality time together and that mission was accomplished. We have a lot of fun together when it’s just the two of us.

Of course the secondary mission for the weekend was to take photos, photos and even more photos. Chris served as my muse, and as you can see from the photos above, he makes a great one. I love that face.

I’ve got hundreds of photos to pore through, so please stay tuned!

Chris bought Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Wii this weekend. And this has been his position on the couch every night since. Though, to be fair, my position each night is usually in front of the computer working on photography stuff. I guess we both have our passions. :)

Gotta Get Right Back

For Valentine’s Day, Chris and I stayed home and he made me sushi, with seared ahi steaks as an appetizer. It was all so amazingly delicious and he was the cutest sushi chef I’ve ever seen. As the night went on, his rolls got a lot tighter and more professional looking, but my favorites were the sloppy ones in the beginning–I think they had more love in them.

There’ll Be Love Wherever You Go

Chris and I have been together/known each other for over 5 years now. When we first met, I’m not sure either of us had a real sense that the relationship we were embarking upon would turn out to be the final lasting one for both of us. The duration of these last five years of our relationship have not been perfect–hell, they haven’t even been easy. But, they’ve taught both of us so much about what it means to be selfless and to truly love another person.

Chris has honestly made me a better person–mostly because he makes me want to be a better person in an attempt to be even slightly worthy of his love in return. He’s a genuine soul with a heart of gold and I sincerely wonder to myself more often than I care to admit how I, of all people, was able to make him my own. I imagine the next five years will be an exciting time for us, but what’s really exciting is to think about the fact that five years is nothing when you spend a lifetime with someone.

The purpose of this post wasn’t for the public display of affection, but rather to share with you this song I discovered today. It immediately made me think of Chris. It’s fun and catchy and cute. Kinda like him.

Happy Valentine’s Day! (I love you, bud.)
